People play Texas Hold ‘Em for different reasons, at different times, in different forms, and so on. But no matter why you play, before you ever get dealt your first hand, you need to be sure of some things.
For example, know why you are playing. You need to be honest. If you want to win some money, be willing to own up to it.
You also need to know the limitations of your own mood and demeanor. If you think that playing against someone calm and cool would ensure that you don’t do so well, you want to wait until you yourself are calm and cool.
Are you distracted by anything? This could mean a noisy crowd or thoughts about how you are going to make rent. Whatever the case, wait until there are no outside distractions.
