While I know that it is tempting to think that you have natural talent in the game of poker – and while that might not be all fake, you still need to practice poker.  Playing poker and winning at poker are two very different things and if you want to win, you need to practice.  The old saying, practice makes perfect is very, very true and if you put yourself into a every situation possible in poker during practice, by the time they come about in a real game, you will know exactly how to react.

Practicing poker is not just about knowing the cards and playing games with your friends, you need to actually read up on the game itself.  Reading book after book about poker is a fantastic way to ensure that you know how to keep your cool, how bluff and how to come up with your own poker strategy would be a great idea.

Now that you know what to look for and when you should bluff, the next step is knowing exactly how you should bluff.  There is such thing as a semi-bluff.  When you are bluffing, it is very important to know when you should use a semi-bluff in order to scare some of those people out and get them to fold.  You can use a semi-bluff when you have just a pair of low numbered cards that could offer you a change at the winning pot.

As you know, how well the bluff is actually done is very telling on whether or not it actually worked and whether or not you are actually going to be able to win with your bluff.  One thing that you need to remember is that many poker players, especially the professional ones and the avid ones know all about bluffs, so you need to keep that in the back of your mind.

Just remember to stay cool, be calm and definitely make sure that you learn how to keep that poker face on!

Once the bluffing is down pat, you want to make sure that you know how to bet.  Believe it or not, people in poker games more often than not do not know how to bet at all and that is difficult.  Knowing how to bet is something that everyone should learn if you are going to be playing any poker games at all.  After all, you do not want to be extremely aggressive in the beginning of the game and lose everything early on.

Now that we have touched base on a few other superstar poker players, let’s give a chat to Greg Raymer!  This guy is from my home state of Michigan and while he might have been a former lawyer, he is actually an incredible poker player now!  He is on the Team Pokerstars with a few other players and he is honestly incredible at his craft!

If you think that the crazy glasses that he wears are nuts, then you should definitely take a look at his aggressive style, because to be honest, he is one of the most aggressive players at the table usually.  His nickname is the Fossilman and the reason for that is because he very, very rarely pulls out and folds.

So if you are sitting in the middle of a game with Greg Raymer, you should be prepared to sit in for the long hull because he is definitely not going to pull out at all!

It has to be said that Thang Luu is definitely hot this year – while this guy has been hot since he first started in poker, nowadays, this guy has been winning everything!  This year alone he actually beat a record field of 918 entries.  In 2008 alone he beat out over 833 players and took home the bracelet and then this year, the number upped and he still took home the bracelet!

Thang Luu is one of those guys that you absolutely have to watch out for whenever you are on a table with him.  The reason for it is because he honestly, does not look like a guy that can wipe the floor with you right?  But he does and he will every single time!  He is a guy that loves to play Omaha 8 and he has had one of the most impressive ones.

So if you are looking for someone to beat, Thang Luu is going to be that person but I wish you good luck – seriously!

Chris Moneymaker – this guy is incredible in every aspect of the word.  Not only has he been playing poker since 2000, but he is actually part of the very exclusive Team Pokerstar.  This guy actually started playing poker after seeing the money Rounders and I think that is pretty freaking cool actually.  He is considered a very reputable tournament player and to be honest, I don’t think that I would want to play against him.

He is by far one of the most skilled players of his time and I think that Chris is going places.  He is aggressive against his opponents and that is the best way to play no matter which way you look at it!  Chris was born and raised in Nashville and no wonder he is so aggressive right?

He has a wife and a daughter and honestly, he’s a family man.  You never would guess it by the way he plays though!  So watch out for Chris Moneymaker!
