She just won the 2008 Sydney APPT Tournament of Champions, but Vanessa Rousso doesn’t look tired at all — she’s just plain beautiful. Probably the hottest female poker player to ever walk the planet — and she can WIN tournaments too. Props, Vanessa is a player, NOT a “female player”.

Erick Lindgren is a real jock, isn’t he? But the “you aren’t so tough without Lon.” remark is pretty coolish.

Poker is not gambling. There are certain strategies that you can follow in order for
you to make the most money on your poker game. Whether you play it safe, or bet extravagant amounts just because you think there is a strategy to your game, poker is serious business.
One of the most common myths about poker is that you will always lose. Playing with people of your own skill level will help you win the most money when you are playing poker. However, you can and most likely will, lose more money if you play someone who has been playing poker longer than you. Make sure you try to pick an easy opponent, that way, you will have a sure chance at winning at least some money.
Poker does involve laying some money down, but you have the opportunity to earn it back. Gambling provides an element of chance, with poker you can say that you are out and no longer want to place any more money on the line. While poker does involve some chance, nearly anyone can win, and quite possibly with any hand.

This hand is too sick to be real. Not because it’s a one-outer, but because it’s a one-outer in the biggest tournament of the year. I would feel so sick if this happened to me. Scott Montgomery does win over 3 MILLION dollars, but I’m sure he’ll be thinking back about this hand, and about what COULD have happened if that damned six of diamonds did NOT hit the river…
Poker can be a cruel, cruel game. Peter Eastgate ended up winning the Main Event. Good for him.

Let me start off by giving you the circumstances of the game:
- - We were about 9 hours into the game.
- - About half the players were straddling, me not included — a couple of them were defending their straddle extremely hard.
- - The player that had the straddle in this hand almost always raised when people limped into his straddle and he was last to act.
- - I had been playing rock solid.
Well, in the small blind I pick up AhAs and see four people limping in before me. Obviously, beeing out of position I would have popped it big right there hoping to be up against at least one player, but realizing the super-loose aggressive player on the straddle I decided to take a risk and limp in with my aces – keeping two things in mind:
- - I would have to re-raise BIG if people call the raise (which was bound to happen with such a loose player raising and a table filled with people overplaying hands pre-flop)
- - If the straddle would happen to check, I was prepared to throw away my aces if the action on the flop wouldn’t be to my liking.

I’ve been playing the $10/$20 game semi-professionally for about two months now, and I decided to make a quick overview post for you still reading this blog:
- Started with a $20,000 bankroll, which I know is small, but it’s all I had and I didn’t want to play the $5/$10 game as it’s a tough one in my local casino.
- Had an excellent start, which is obviously very lucky… It’s great to start on a hot streak.
I won $14k in the first 3 weeks and ended my first month with a $35,000 BR. I was pretty happy.
- Had a minor downswing in the first week of month two, went down to $28,000, but then lapsed back in a HUGE night in which I won $14,000 thanks to two straight flushes, one against a full boat — and am now still over $40,000 at the moment…
Long story short, after two months I’ve doubled my bankroll and I’ve only had one real downswing. I’m pretty happy and I’ve decided to take $10,000 out of my bankroll to invest it in a mutual fund. If one day I want to pay off my mortgage loan with my poker profits, I might as well start investing it wisely.

What a battle it was for the first place in the main event yesterday.
After four months the 2008 World Series of Poker has ended and young prodigy Peter Eastgate is the champion at 22 years of age.
He defeated Russia’s Ivan Demidov after playing heads up for a couple of hours early Tuesday morning. The victory makes him the youngest player to ever win the WSOP Main Event.
He took home a little over $9million and Demidov $5.8million so not too shabby even for the 2nd place finisher. I was watching the game live and playing at the same time. Mistake on my part because since I was glued to the TV and didnt pay much attention to my online play the only money I ended up getting yesterday was in rakeback lol. So a lesson learned from last night is don’t watch the pros and play yourself at the same time because you will most likely get thrown of your game. Thank god for these rakeback offers or I would feel like yesterday was a complete waste of time.
Congrats to Peter and Ivan and I will see you on the final tables online soon.

I am in awe after seeing my new MAIN MAN Roberto Romanello lay down JJ on a flush-free AKJTT board. — WHAT AN AMAZING LAYDOWN.
Roberto, who cashed in the 2006 Main Event even got a WAAW from Mike Matusow. That’s strong.
It’s the first hand in this video below — pretty beautiful.
